Tri-County Electric Cooperative has been serving South Carolina since 1940 with reliable electric service and innovative programs that are designed to assist economic development in Calhoun, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Kershaw, and Sumter Counties.
Leadership
To assist with economic development Tri-County has become a leader in the local area Chambers of Commerce and developed partnerships with Palmetto Economic Development Commission, SC Department of Commerce, and the Central Economic Development Alliance. Along with these partners and working directly with county governments Tri-County has helped locate global industrial leaders such as Zeus Industries and Southeast Frozen Foods to the area.
Team
A team of professionals is in place to assist with any challenges that a new or existing industry might face. Led by Chad Lowder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the team consists of engineers, operations, and billing specialists that understand the reliable and timely service that is a necessity in today’s business climate. Tri-County pledges to provide the highest customer service to ensure your experience is both productive and pleasurable.
Incentives
For qualified industrial customers, Tri-County Electric Cooperative offers several types of financial incentives to assist with certain infrastructure costs and rate incentives to lower the demand charges for a contracted time period. Tri-County’s incentives go beyond financial with several innovative programs to help your industry. We offer power quality monitoring and a full line of surge protection equipment. Tri-County was also the first cooperative in South Carolina to implement automated meter reading by a power line carrier. This enables Tri-County to accurately read and monitor your electric usage remotely. Energy consumption can be calculated hourly, daily, and monthly. These incentives are designed to assist you long after the initial location process.
Available Sites
Tri-County Electric Cooperative is proud to serve several first-class industrial parks in Calhoun and Orangeburg Counties. In Calhoun County we serve the 50-acre Tri-County Industrial Park, located on I-26 and also the Calhoun County Industrial Park, a new 365-acre park also conveniently located along the I-26 corridor. In Orangeburg County, we serve the Senator John Matthews Industrial Park, a new 400-acre park located at the intersection of U S Highways 301 and 176.
Tri-County Electric Cooperative, in partnership with SC Power Team, officially unveiled the Tri-County Global Industrial Site, a 380-acre industrial site just off I-26 and U.S. 601. The Orangeburg area’s newest rail-served site sits on the Norfolk Southern main line. A 45-acre building pad already is in place and the new industrial site also offers 500,000 gallons per day in excess water and wastewater capacity.
South Carolina’s Team
Tri-County Electric Cooperative is part of a large economic development team known as the South Carolina Power Team. This team is made up of the 20 South Carolina Electric Cooperatives, Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s public generation and transmission company, and Palmetto Economic Development Corporation, our economic development marketing organization, has formed the most effective power delivery system in the state.
